"Paradise" 5 Stars
From the minute we walked on to the property I knew it was going to be a very special week. I am a horticulturist and was very impressed with the plantings. Someone took their time and put some thought into the gardens. All the garden areas were planted with butterfly attracters. There were butterflies and hummingbirds everywhere. Very magical. The wildlife was abundant. The house is secluded and quiet. Just what we were looking for. A house this beautiful in the middle of the forest was wonderful. We enjoyed our stay and plan to return next year.
"Wonderful Escape" 5 Stars
Susan, We'd like to thank you for one of the most relaxing, peaceful settings we have vacationed. Your home is beyond beautiful. Your property is natural, beautifully landscaped and whimsical. While walking it daily, we frequently noted something we had missed before. Evenings and nights were just as active in the yard as day time with all the animals. One evening I watched an owl swoop for fish several times... absolutely silently. You had to be watching for him.
"Little Piece of Heaven" 5 Stars
What a wonderful property! So many things to do in the area. the house was perfect and clean! We loved feeding the deer and turkey that came around every evening. The king size bed was very comfortable. The inside of the house was beautiful lots of books to read games to play. I loved the yard so many tropical plants! The pond in the back had a alligator in it. My mom loved all of the flowers! The owner provided us with bikes ! I did more hiking in that week I was there than I have done in 6 months! So much nature! Lots of trails to hike around the area! Susan the owner was very nice showed us around the house and property. Very secluded location. I have rented a lot of vacation homes over the years and I would have to say this is one of the best ever!! I will be coming back again soon!! Thank you Susan for sharing your home with us!
"Luxury House in the Everglades" 5 Stars
Imagine being able to stay in the Everglades and see all the wildlife and beautiful landscapes without camping! The house is beautiful, well-equipped for cooking, comfortable furniture...even a pool table. There are wild turkeys and deer in the yard and miles of roads in the parks to tour and see alligators and all sorts of cranes, hawks, and other birds. The house is near Everglades City which has several good restaurants and also the Everglades National Park where you can take boat tours, canoe, and hike. We spent a wonderful week there. Also there is a museum in Everglades City which tells you much about the history of early Florida and the Everglades. There is so much to do and see there...and all from a base of a beautiful secluded house. The owner is very welcoming and attentive to all your needs. Great stay!!

Full screened in porches surround the house, a wonderful breeze generally rolls through the house with all the doors open or put on the central air or heat. Pond on the property generally full of resident wildlife: alligator, wading birds, turtles, deer, bobcat, panther, butterflies, wild turkey, bears and more. Spend days wilderness hiking, birding, photography, biking from the house. Exploring the Everglades is an endless journey with few humans in your path. You can also experience the area with world famous photographer, Clyde Butcher. He offers small tour groups. The park rangers also provide walks, maps, advice, etc.. Everglades City is the closest town, 11 miles away, famous for it's local crabs, fishing, nature guides and air boat tours. It is still a quaint village offering shopping for groceries, restaurants and excellent tour guides. Chokoloskee cemeteries and the Ted Smallwood Store are also worth a visit as well as the Ten Thousand Islands and Marco Island. These islands are salt water fishing destination: snook, grouper, tarpon, red fish and drum are generally caught.
The Cottage is perfect for nature enthusiasts, artists, authors, etc...The tranquility will be stimulating. Transportation from either Naples Florida or Ft Lauderdale can be arranged, as well as stocking the refrigerator and other necessities.
Literally step outside the home to hike and photograph in every direction!! You can hike through the grasses or hike on the old swamp buggy trails. The trails are rugged and used by the native critters in the area.
The property is a very spiritual place encouraging meditation.
